Squaw Valley USA is saddling up for Wild Wild West Weekend on Aug. 23 & 24, 2008. Wild Wild West Weekend offers adults and children the opportunity to channel their inner-cowboy at the High Camp Corral for western-style fun. The Horseshoe Court, the Tin Can Shootout, Pony Rides, a Petting Zoo, Square Dancing, authentic western BBQs, live music, and cowboy poetry and story telling with famed cowboy lyricist, Larry Maurice are all part of the wild weekend.
“Based on the popularity of last summer’s Western Day featuring famed local cowboy lyricist Larry Maurice, we decided to make a weekend out of it including music, animals and western themed activities. We hope that visitors and locals alike will kick up their boots at High Camp, el 8200’ for some western fun in an amazing setting," exclaims Director of Marketing at Squaw Valley Ski Corp, Christine Horvath.
Both days of Wild Wild West Weekend feature face painting from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., a Western BBQ from 5 to 7 p.m., and the Horseshoe Court and Tin Can Shootout taking place all day at the High Camp Corral.
On Saturday, Aug. 23, revelers can take a Pony Ride around the High Camp Corral or meet real mini ponies, rabbits, goats, and sheep at the Wild West Petting Zoo. From 2 to 4 p.m. guests can mosey on over to the Square Dancing Demo before chowing-down on barbequed ribs from 5 to 7 p.m. Following dinner, nationally renowned cowboy lyricist, Larry Maurice, entertains the crowd with western poetry, stories, and music by the campfire.
On Sunday, Aug. 24, in addition to the High Camp Corral's Horseshoe Court, Tin Can Shootout, face painting and Western BBQ, cowboys and gals can tap their boots and kick up their heels to live music with Fiddlin' Jenni & Pete Charles (of Truckee Tribe and Rusty Strings) from noon to 4 p.m. on the High Camp Summer Stage.
